Zbrush Sketches

Back in 2005 I graduated from Louisiana Tech with a degree in 3d Studio Art (essentially sculpture), with a concentration in sculpting the human form in marble and bronze.  Turns out, there wasn’t a lot of demand for that in Louisiana after school.  I kind of let sculpting fall by the wayside after that so I could study Art Conservation in Florence, Italy.  While I was there, I managed to get my hands on some Carrara marble (the good stuff) and did a sculpt that ended up on The Today Show.  Katie Couric actually worked on it (and in a small way did a good chunk of damage to it).  I realized that I really missed sculpting.

I wasn’t until somebody talked me into learning Zbrush that I really found that passion for sculpting again.  It’s like a ball of Digital Clay, and it’s awesome!  I’ve been doing sculptures digitally ever since.

Below are just a handful of personal sketches that I’ve done in the past couple of years.  The vast majority of the Zbrush work that I’ve done for work was for the characters on Grimm, and I don’t own the rights to those, but you can see them in my demo reel.
